College of Law Laptop Requirements

All Clinic students are required to meet a University System-Standard security posture in order to perform their Clinic work. Below are links to University created and maintained links which host download links and instructions for all required applications.

 

In addition to the software, all student laptops must comply with the encryption and firewall standard, and meet or exceed the minimum hardware and OS standards listed below. 

ExamSoft is an exam software that is used within the College of Law and is required for exam taking.

Microsoft Windows 10/11 PC hardware requirements:

All Windows laptops must be running Windows 10 or 11 Pro, update 22H2 or newer. Note that Windows 10 and 11 Home versions may not support Full Disc Encryption.


Apple MacBook Pro/MacBook Air* hardware requirements:

*Due to performance limitations, Macbook Airs are not recommended. Macbook Air users can expect lag, slowdowns, and issues with multitasking.

All Mac laptops must be running Sequioa, Sonoma, or Ventura, each of which have a different minimum OS update standard. Note that the release of Sequioa has deprecated Monterey. Students running Monterey will need to upgrade in order to be in alignment. 


In addition, because our Law Clinic students are required to align with Medium-Risk security posture, Windows 10 and 11 Pro are a requirement, as home does not satisfactorily allow users to enable Bitlocker.
